Noodle Board Happiness

Today I am over the moon happy with my new Noodle Board!πŸ€— You can imagine my excitement when I found a woman who lives down the road from me who crafts up these beautiful pieces. For an extra 5 euro, I could have gotten it personalized too but I opted out as I have way too many personalized pieces in my home as it is.

The reason they call these noodle boards is because these generally were crafted and used for kneading or drying homemade pasta/noodles.Β Those that were used for this purpose generally had a raised lip on three sides so that the dough would not fly all over the kitchen counters; instead, it would be contained to this small area and make for easier clean up. These were also great for small kitchen’s, as it added a bit of extra counter space.

My noodle board, however, doesn’t have a very food safe finish so I will be using it mainly to cover up my stove top and then also as a serving tray for when the stove is in use.

The housing we live in while here on tour in Germany is quite small and a lot outdated (I mean, did you SEE those counter tops?). πŸ˜²πŸ˜‘πŸ™ƒ So any little thing that I can bring in to add a little bit of “cozy charm”, really makes a big difference.
